Recorded when presented live, Ashley Comiskey was a speaker at AAMAS’s 2020 Virtual Conference. Ashley has worked in the healthcare industry for the past 20 years. During her career, she has practiced as a nurse aid, LPN, and RN. She completed her BSN from Harding University in 2004 and her MSN from Western Governor’s University in 2016. Her clinical RN experience includes Neuro ICU at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, ICU at Stanford University Hospital, and PACU at University of Vermont.
Ashley transitioned away from the bedside and was the physician educator for Baptist Health’s Accountable Care Organization and Clinical Integration Network for 2 years prior to taking on the role of CDI Supervisor at Baptist Health Paducah. She has since earned her CCDS certification, was the 2019 recipient of ACDIS’s Rookie of the Year Award, and was also a 2019 recipient of a Nursing Excellence in Patient Safety award from Baptist Health Paducah.

We will discuss a broad overview of Value-Based Care in the outpatient and inpatient settings and including the Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) risk adjustment methodology. With CMS’s shifting financial landscape from traditional fee-for-service reimbursement to value-based reimbursement, risk adjusting the patient populations is essential for the financial success of organizations and providers.
