Auditor of the Year
The “Auditor of the Year” award is presented yearly in recognition of an auditor who demonstrates excellence in audit skills and execution of these skills in the workplace.
To be eligible the nominee must:
- Be a member of AAMAS in good standing for the current and preceding year.
- Have at least three years experience as an auditor.
- Show excellence in auditing.
There is no limit to the number of times that an AAMAS member meeting the above criteria can be nominated for Auditor of the Year. Once the honor has been bestowed upon an auditor, they can no longer be nominated again.
To nominate an auditor for this award, obtain a nomination form from the AAMAS Administrative Director. In addition to completing the form, the nomination may also include supporting letters of recommendation. Those letters should describe specific issues or topics related to the nominee’s qualifications for the award that the writer wishes to emphasize. (e.g.: professional standards of conduct; personal standards of conduct; objectivity; confidentiality; preparedness and organization; accuracy; competency; ethical practices; negotiating skills; knowledge of legislative and regulatory changes in health care; etc.) For clarity, all acronyms must be spelled out when used for the first time. The completed nomination must be postmarked by February 1 each year.
The criteria for selection includes the total number of years of membership, certification (CMAS) and service on the Board of Directors. Membership and service in state or local audit organizations will also be considered.
The Auditor of the Year Committee will review and rate the nominations and select the recipient based on the criteria. The AAMAS President will present the award at the AAMAS Spring Conference.
